The Self-Audit Tool is an important resource for the implementation of a tobacco-free healthcare service. It enables healthcare service to monitor and review their own progress towards the achievement of implementing a quality tobacco-free policy.
It helps to identify areas needing attention, provides a guide for policy development and ensures that progress is kept on track. It consequently constitutes an important means of motivation.
A total score is calculated ranging from 0 to 3 and a maximum total of 144. Depending on the score obtained, a grade of specific category is assigned by the national/regional network: member, bronze or silver.
